Foot & Ankle Conditions We Treat
- Achilles Tendinitis: Inflammation of the tendon linking calf muscles to the heel, often caused by overuse or sudden activity increase, leading to pain and stiffness.
- Ankle Sprain: A common injury from twisting or rolling the ankle, which strains or tears the ligaments, often due to an awkward landing or misstep.
- Stress Fracture: Stress fractures are characterised as overuse injuries, where tiny cracks form on bones due to repetitive force or caused by conditions such as osteoporosis, which can weaken bone health.
- Plantar Fasciitis: Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the plantar fascia, which is the tough, fibrous tissue that extends across the heel of each foot and connects our heel bone to the base of our toes.
Common Causes of Foot & Ankle Pain
- Ankle Sprain: An ankle sprain can occur from the foot rolling outward (eversion), affecting the outer ankle, or inward (inversion), impacting the inner ligaments.
- Stress Fracture: A small bone crack from overuse or impact, causing pain that worsens with activity.
- Plantar Fasciitis: Inflammation of foot tissue causes sharp heel or arch pain, often worse with your first steps in the morning.
- Achilles Tendinitis: Inflammation of the Achilles tendon from overuse or poor footwear causes pain, stiffness, and swelling at the back of the ankle.
