Hip Pain Symptoms
Hip pain can manifest in various ways, each indicating potential underlying issues. Here are some of the symptoms of hip pain:
- Swelling and inflammation
- A noticeable limp
- Muscle Weakness
- Clicking, popping, or grinding sensations
- Pain during movement and/or rest
Hip Conditions We Treat
- Labral Tears: Damage to the labrum can come from regular wear-and-tear from daily activities, sports injuries or even trauma due to a fracture or dislocated bone.
- Hip Instability: Hip instability, also known as loose hips, is a condition that describes the hip joint as being excessively loose or making abnormal movements, appearing “wobbly” with every motion.
- Osteonecrosis of the Hip: Osteonecrosis of the hip refers to the gradual “bone death” in your thighbone, causing it to crumble to pieces gradually.
Common Causes of Hip Pain
- Joint Stability: A well-functioning hip joint supports our body’s weight distribution, preventing undue stress on other joints and reducing the risk of conditions like back pain.
- Mobility and Functionality: Hip joint facilitates a wide range of motions, from basic tasks like standing up to more complex actions like dancing or participating in sports.
- Tendonitis: Tendonitis happens when the tendons, which connect muscles to bones, become inflamed or irritated due to overuse or repetitive motions.
- Bursitis: Bursitis occurs when small fluid-filled sacs, known as the bursae, that cushion and reduce friction between bones, tendons, and muscles, become inflamed.
- Hip Fracture: Hip fractures can cause sudden, severe pain and can be a medical emergency.
- Hip Impingement: Hip impingement can be caused by femoral impingement, pincer impingement, and combined impingement.
- Arthritis: Osteoarthritis, prevalent in older adults, leads to cartilage deterioration and joint inflammation.
