Dr. Razmi is a practicing orthopaedic and spine consultant at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. His special interests and expertise lies in managing all forms of spinal conditions, arthritis, general orthopaedics, osteoporosis and trauma surgery.
Dr Razmi routinely performs discectomy (minimally invasive surgery), decompression surgery, spinal fusion, motion preservation surgery including dynamic stabilization and dynamic fusion technologies and lumbar and cervical disc replacements. He is the first surgeon in Singapore to perform stand-alone anterior approached spine fusion using the Synfix implant.
His current research interests are in the repair and regeneration of diseased spinal discs using autologous chondrocytes transplantation and has collaborated with the Adelaide Centre for Spinal Research for this work. Dr Razmi also frequently lectures in courses on spine surgery both locally and regionally and conducts courses for General Practitioners both in the local as well as in the region.
Dr Razmi completed his postgraduate degree in 1996. He received MOH scholarships to further his surgical skills development in basic surgery and orthopaedic surgery and was subsequently awarded a clinical fellowship at the Spinal Unit, Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma, Royal Adelaide Hospital in Adelaide, Australia to build spine surgery department in Alexandra Hospital.
In 2003, he was selected to represent Singapore in the Junior ASEAN Orthopaedic Travelling Fellowship. He spent a month travelling around the ASEAN region to share as well as learn with the leading surgeons in the region.
He has also published his works at several reputable peer reviewed spine journals and presented at many international meetings. As a member of the AOSpine International, an association dedicated in improving spine patient surgical outcomes and ensuring cost effective spine surgery, Dr. Razmi strongly believes in upholding its values.
